Science Affiliates

The Science Affiliates is an outreach program established by Colgate University in 1992 with funding from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

Our mission is to enhance science education in the public schools of central New York by offering workshops, conferences, field trips, student science days and other interesting events to promote science teaching and learning in grades K-12.

Science Affiliates teachers hail from 12 regional school districts within a 30-mile radius of the Colgate campus. Designated Science Affiliates are teacher representatives who act as the primary contact between Colgate's HHMI outreach coordinator and participating school districts. It is the responsibility of the Science Affiliates to keep teachers in their respective schools informed, to help organize and coordinate events throughout the year, and to formulate ideas for enhancing science teaching and learning.

A teacher does not have to be a registered Science Affiliate to be eligible to participate in scheduled events. All teachers are welcome, and registration is normally done on a first- come, first-serve basis.
