This course is recommended for all outdoor professionals and enthusiasts who spend time in remote areas. The curriculum exceeds the basics of First Aid and emphasizes the skills needed to perform backcountry wilderness rescues that may involve extended care. Wilderness Medical Associates professionals will be teaching this course. Mornings are often devoted to lectures and exams. Afternoons are devoted to practical hands-on sessions, rescue simulations, and video critiques. Evenings are reserved for study and assignments.

Students must be at least 18 years old to participate in this course. Sixteen and 17 year old's must have proof of parental consent. Textbooks: the cost of the course includes a book of lecture handouts, a workbook, SOAP notes, the Wilderness Medical Associates Field Guide and a Back country Wilderness Medical Guide.

All students who successfully complete the WFR course will receive a WFR certification card, an anaphylaxis certification card and a BLS - CPR certification card from Wilderness Medical Associates. These certifications remain valid for three years.
