Eating Issues Management Team

The EIMT provides comprehensive information to students, parents, and members of our community with resources and support for students managing disordered eating, body image, or eating disorders.

Eating Issues Management Team

The EIMT is a multi-disciplinary team that provides comprehensive support for an individual who may be struggling with an eating-related illness or eating disorder. The goal of the team is to support a student in identifying and coordinating an appropriate level of treatment, using various resources that are available at Colgate including Student Health Services, Counseling & Psychological Services, and nutritional services offered at the Shaw Wellness Institute.

How the Team Works

Medical, counseling, and nutritional professionals meet regularly to coordinate and collaborate for care and treatment they are providing to students with eating or body image-related illness. The goal of the team is to provide high quality, collaborative treatment based on each student's individualized needs. The team meets regularly to review information, update treatment plans, and make recommendations if a student is in distress.

How to Connect with the Team

For students, connecting with the team is easiest through speaking with a medical or mental health professional on campus. Schedule an appointment with the Student Health Services or the Counseling Center if you are not connected with a treatment provider on campus. If you are already seeing a provider at either office, ask them about using the team as a resource.

Parents can connect with the team for consultation or concern about their student. It is often best to directly communicate with your student's treatment provider if a release of information is in place (counselor or medical staff). If your student is not yet connected with these resources or no release of information is in place, please contact the office to speak with a member of our staff.

Faculty and staff looking to speak with a member of the team should contact Student Health Services or the Counseling & Psychological Services  for consultation. We are always available to consult about a student of concern or how to refer a student to campus resources.
