Overseeing Career Initiatives -- Career Services, Thought Into Action, and the Robert A Fox '59  Management & Leadership Skills Program -- Michael guides his team in providing students with direct, informed access to Colgate’s alumni and parent community while amplifying the ongoing focus on student development and personal reflection.

Before coming to Colgate in 2012, Mike was director of Career Services at Wesleyan University, worked in career services at Brown University and the University of Rhode Island, and held a variety of student affairs positions at the University of Rhode Island, the California State University, Fresno, and the University of New Hampshire. Mike is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a BS in gerontology and an MS in human development, counseling, and family studies. His career has encompassed a few twists and turns including: training in clinical hypnosis; spinal cord injury rehabilitation; and singing backup for Mr. Kenny Rogers.

Teresa oversees the team in Career Services to deliver a personalized, high-impact experience to Colgate students, alumni, employers, and families. A passionate advocate for the liberal arts, Teresa presents regularly, consults as an external reviewer, and has served in multiple leadership positions within liberal arts consortia. She was awarded the NACE Excellence Award in 2014.

Teresa holds a BA from Colby College and an MS in higher education administration from Indiana University. Teresa, her husband, and their two children are avid outdoor enthusiasts and die-hard members of the Red Sox and Raider nations.

David began working in Career Services in September 2001. Throughout the years he has held numerous positions (Program Coordinator, Career Advisor, Assistant Director) and is currently the Associate Director of Career Development.

David and his wife (Darcie ’98 – Associate Director of Annual Giving) are originally from Hamilton. After receiving his BA from St. Michael’s College, David worked in sales in the Washington, DC area prior to moving back to the place he calls home. An avid sports fan, David can often be found rooting on the Raiders.

Before coming to Colgate, Kat was a Graduate Programs Manager at Kaplan Test Prep, working with students at colleges and universities throughout Central and Western New York. Previously, she has held a variety of positions related to the government, healthcare and technology sectors. Kat received her BA in Public Affairs from Syracuse University and enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, their two daughters and two Great Danes.

Laura joined the Colgate University career advisor team in July of 2015. She works primarily with students in business, finance and consulting, and as a liaison to students in the LGBTQ community as well as student athletes.

Laura comes to Colgate from Defiance College, OH, where she served in a variety of roles including Director of Career Development, Admissions Counselor, and adjunct professor in the department of natural sciences. Prior to working at Defiance College, she gained extensive experience in collegiate athletics, serving six years as a track & field and cross country coach. Laura is joined in Hamilton by her husband, John Hartpence, who is a member of the track & field and cross country staff at Hamilton College, and their daughter, Lillian.

Vera first began her career at Colgate University in 2013 as the Associate Director of Career Development and recently transitioned into the role of Career Advisor for Creative Communications and the Arts to allow more time spent directly with students.

Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, a study abroad experience at Clemson University led her to the University of Mississippi, where she pursued advanced degrees in counseling and higher education. After becoming a licensed professional counselor in Mississippi, Vera served as a career planning specialist and adjunct professor at the same institution. Vera is passionate about empowering others to become the most extraordinary version of themselves— something she accomplishes through blogging and other creative ventures. Vera is joined in Hamilton by her husband, David Chapman, who currently serves as the head coach of the Colgate rugby football club, and their two young children, Grayson and Ivey.

James joined Colgate Career Services in September 2014 as a Career Advisor with a focus on the STEM disciplines. Prior to his arrival at Colgate James was employed at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he served as an Associate Director and Lecturer in the Archer Center for Student Leadership Development.

James earned an Ed.M. degree in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies with a concentration in Student Affairs Administration from the University at Buffalo and a BA in History from the State University of New York, College at Geneseo. James brings to Colgate more than ten years of experience working with college students in a variety of capacities including, leadership education, curriculum design and assessment, community development, and one-on-one coaching. He enjoys helping students bridge their interests and passions with their professional goals to find a sense of fulfillment and success.

Originally from the Finger Lakes region of New York State, James resides in Syracuse and is excited to enjoy the diverse array of outdoor recreational activities that Central New York has to offer.

Jen manages the Employer Relations team to deliver excellent service to Colgate's employer partners, including alumni and parents. A strong proponent of experiential education, Jen works to broaden the type and number of internships, fellowships, and full-time professional experiences available to Colgate students. Prior to joining Colgate, Jen was the Director of the Center for Career and Professional Development at RPI.

Jen holds a BS in Biology/Chemistry from LeMoyne College and a JD, cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law. Jen and her family enjoy cheering on their favorite teams in college sports, especially basketball and traveling to find the best and biggest roller coasters in the country!

Chelsea has been at Colgate in the Dean of the College division since 2011, until her move to the Center for Career Services as Assistant Director for Alumni Engagement in December of 2015. In this role, she will work to connect current students with alumni through job shadowing and events such as SophoMORE Connections and a Day in the Life.

Before coming to Colgate, Chelsea received her bachelor's degree in psychology from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY and her masters in College Student Personnel Administration from Canisius College in Buffalo. Chelsea and her husband graduated from Hamilton Central School, and are happy to be back home with their young daughter Harper.

Sarah joined the Center for Career Services as assistant director of internships in August 2016. Before coming to Colgate, Sarah worked in Student Services at Mohawk Valley Community College for six years, and was an adjunct instructor of lifespan development psychology and college seminar courses for several semesters.

Sarah earned her BA and MA in psychology from Marist College. She is an enthusiast of modern calligraphy and hand-lettering, and enjoys creating and teaching workshops throughout the community. Sarah also enjoys traveling, and supporting local events with her husband, two children, and goldendoodle.

Investment Studies Program Fellow
The Investment Studies Program is designed to give liberal arts students an opportunity to be exposed to the world of finance and business. This Intern manages the logistics of certificate courses, helps plan events such as bringing speakers to campus, and aids in brainstorming about furthering the program while overall ensuring that everything runs smoothly.

My name is Fjordi Mulla and I am a sophomore majoring in International Relations and minoring in Philosophy. I am originally from Albania, but I grew up in Greece and later immigrated to Waterbury, CT in 2009. During my time at Colgate, I have been a participant of HBX CORe, GA Business Accelerator, Business Ethics Seminar, Envestnet Institute on Campus, Thought Into Action Institute, Colgate Investment Group, Sophomore Residential Seminars, A Day in the Life, and multiple Admissions Office panels and events. I have traveled to India and Puerto Rico with Extended Study Courses and I will be spending the Spring 2018 semester in Geneva with another Colgate Study Group. I am also part of the OUS Scholars on campus. My interests include innovation, business development, refining processes and maximizing efficiency, team building, effective altruism, business ethics, cyber security, and immigration. I am hoping to pursue a career in Management Consulting, Private Equity, or Investment Banking.

Fun fact: I am a polyglot! I speak English, Greek, French, and Albanian.
