Program

A new favorite among loyal grads, parents, and friends, Summer on the Hill lets you relive the liberal arts experience with some of Colgate’s leading faculty. This year, our program will take place during the weekend of June 30–July 3, 2013, allowing even the busiest alumni to sneak away for four days of intellectual engagement. Nine engaging Colgate professors will adapt popular class material for alumni, family, and friends. The program also includes activities outside of the classroom, so you can enjoy all that Hamilton and Colgate have to offer.

On this year’s menu, you'll choose three classes to take, meeting three times each. Round out your schedule by attending two lectures. After charging your brain, you can re-charge your batteries through elective courses — relaxing or adventurous, depending on your preference. Then, build Colgate connections in the classroom and after hours at events up and down the hill. It's summer at its best, and your alumni office is issuing a personal invitation.

2013 Courses

Academic offerings vary widely, as nine engaging Colgate professors adapt popular class material from across the disciplines. Select three courses, one from each session block. Sessions, faculty, and course descriptions for the 2013 program can be found on the Faculty and Courses page.

Beyond the Classroom

Participants choose from a long list of activities that add depth to their academic vacation. Enjoy instruction from Colgate's golf pro Marian Blain, or join outdoor education student staff at the Angert Family Climbing Wall. Shows will be available at the Ho Tung Visualization Laboratory, an experience similar to an IMAX theater, right here on campus.

Special activities for this year include a field trip led by Bruce Selleck '71 to local energy sources; a trip to Common Thread Community Farm; or a tour and tasting of Good Nature Brewing. More activities and descriptions can be found on the Beyond the Classroom page.
