Alumnae Leadership Council

Since 1970, women have played a vital role in shaping Colgate University and most recently by establishing the Alumnae Leadership Council.

The council has emerged at an important moment in the life of this university. Guided by its strategic plan, Colgate is capitalizing on its strengths and identifying new opportunities to build an unparalleled undergraduate environment. Council members support the process by:

  • championing and stewarding the Alumnae Leadership Fund, which provides imperative financial aid and programmatic income
  • meeting and mentoring current students and leadership fund scholarship recipients
  • modeling for future alumnae the kind of volunteerism that advances Colgate’s excellence
  • gathering annually to discuss current issues in higher education and the challenges that face Colgate today

The Alumnae Leadership Endowed Fund

Established in 2005 by the Alumnae Leadership Council to support strategic initiatives that will position Colgate as the nation’s leading liberal arts university.  Specifically, the Fund will support efforts to renew the commitment to produce ethical and moral leaders who inspire others through clear communication, the power of information, and the ability to lead others and communities in a common purpose.

Eighty (80) percent of the annual support shall be used to provide financial assistance for one or more students at Colgate with preference given to students with strong academic records and excellent leadership experiences and skills.    

Twenty (20) percent of the annual support shall be used to provide funds for emerging and existing student organizations and leadership programs that exemplify the residential life mission.
