International Students

Colgate emphasizes global learning and diversity, and we welcome applications from international students studying abroad and in the United States.

Deadlines

  • Early Decision I: November 15, 2013
  • Early Decision II: January 15, 2014 (Regular decision applicants may change their application to EDII by submitting the Early Decision Agreement Form no later than March 1, 2014.)
  • Regular Decision: January 15, 2014

All documents must be in English or certified translations of official documents are required.

Required Materials from Applicant

  • Common Application, including the personal statement and the Colgate University writing supplement:
    "In 150-200 words, please tell us what inspired you to apply for admission to Colgate University?"

  • Official standardized testing scores: SAT Reasoning Test or ACT Assessment
    Students must have testing results submitted directly to Colgate from the testing agency. Alternatively, testing results reported on an official transcript will be accepted. SAT or ACT writing sections are not evaluated.

  • TOEFL or IELTS scores, or an alternative assessment of English skills
    Students must have testing results submitted directly to Colgate from the testing agency. Alternatively, testing results reported on an official transcript will be accepted.

  • Non-refundable $60 application fee
    The application fee is waived for non-U.S. citizens. Additionally, Colgate accepts official fee waivers from the College Board, the National Association for College Admission Counseling, and Expanding College Opportunities.

Required Materials from Guidance Counselor or School Official

  • School Report

  • Guidance counselor recommendation

  • Two teacher recommendations from 10th, 11th, or 12th grade teachers

  • Official high school transcript
    An official high school transcript will display courses and grades for 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades.

  • Official standardized testing scores: SAT Reasoning Test or ACT Assessment
    Students must have testing results submitted directly to Colgate from the testing agency. Alternatively, testing results reported on an official transcript will be accepted. SAT or ACT writing sections are not evaluated.

  • Mid-Year Report, including at least first quarter or first trimester senior grades

Financial Aid

If applying for financial aid, applicants must submit the CSS / Financial Aid PROFILE online by January 15, 2014.
