Each semester, Colgate study groups take students to study off campus while immersing them in new cultures, perspectives, and experiences. Students live together with their peers and receive instruction and mentoring from the Colgate faculty member directing the program, as well as from their host institutions.
Each study group has its own academic focus, ranging from religion and philosophy studies in St. Andrews, Scotland, to high-level scientific research at the United States' National Institutes of Health. The courses in each of these study groups can be counted toward your graduation and major and minor requirements just like any other Colgate course.
Students whose academic interests are not served by a Colgate study group or who are not accepted to a Colgate study group also have the option of studying off-campus through
other programs sponsored by another college, a university abroad, or by an education abroad provider.
