Colgate is 10 miles from the geographic center of New York state. The most convenient airport is Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR), about an hour from campus. During heavy travel periods such as school breaks, students and families can use these resources to find the best transportation options.
- The Student Travel Agency provides discounted COACH USA bus tickets to students traveling to locations such as Utica, Binghamton, and New York City. (A complete COACH USA schedule is here.) While tickets can be purchased directly from COACH USA, the discounted price cannot be guaranteed unless purchased through the agency. Students interested in train service can take a COACH USA bus to the Amtrak station in Utica.
- Colgate and Birnie Bus Service have a long-standing history of providing the best travel options for students, including trips to and from Syracuse airport. The Travel Agency, in conjunction with the Student Government Association (SGA), has arranged discounted shuttles during break periods. Information is on the SGA website and at the Travel Agency desk. Personalized travel arrangements also can be made through Birnie by using its Demand Response Shuttle Service.
